I was pretty excited when I heard that the winner of Keller William’s nationwide “Closer to Home” sweepstakes winner was a kindergarten teacher right here in Tampa.
The $50,000 winner was a local working with an agent in my KW New Tampa office! It was very exciting to be a part of the celebration. Watching her and her husband receive the check was an emotional experience I’m honored to have been a part of. (I’m in that top photo, by the way.)
Susan and her husband, Ken, were renting in Tampa while working with their Keller Williams agent Gail Sardegna to find a home.
As per their Realtor’s advice, they downloaded the Keller Williams Mobile Property Search App and entered the “Closer to Home” sweepstakes with the touch of a button.
Susan loved searching for homes on the app: “I’m on it all the time!” she said. She had forgotten all about the contest and could hardly believe it when she was contacted to learn that she’d won.

Today construction began on The Estuary shopping complex in Brandon that will include Tampa’s first Bass Pro Shop.
The new “family oriented entertainment complex” will also include restaurants, a hotel, and TopGolf.
There is a little bit of a controversy around the tax dollars that have been spent in this endeavor, although I certainly know a lot of people who will be happy to have a local Bass Pro.
I certainly am. I’ll be taking my kids there. How about you? The fish tanks and decor are always a big hit with the kiddos.
But that means the tax dollars that were spend were probably a good idea, since they all went to fixing the traffic flow in the Brandon area. The Estuary will be right across from The Brandon Town Center, and if you’ve ever driven around there, you know it’s an all day project just to get out of the parking lot.
Do you agree? Money well spent or not?

I just had to share a photo of one of our beautiful Lutz / Land O’ Lakes sunsets.
This photo’s actually a little blurry, since I took it with my cell phone, but it still shows some of the brilliant colors that adorn our evening skies on the west coast of Florida.
Find your own piece of Floridian paradise from which to enjoy the sunsets at Rosemary Sells Tampa.
Frank Lloyd Wright designed the Usonian House in 1939 for Florida Southern College in Lakeland. It was never built.
The Usonian House was built this year at the college, with an event announcing its opening on November 1st.
It’s the first time since the 1960s that a Frank Lloyd Wright house has been built for its original client on its original site.
The design on the 2-bedroom home features 1,978 textile blocks in 47 different shapes and 5,000 glass colored glass block inserts.
It was originally intended to be used as faculty housing, but will now be used as Sharp Family Tourism and Education Center.
Have you heard of The Green Hop?
Maybe not … but don’t worry, it is a little hidden away, so we won’t blame you!
Tucked inside the Heritage Isles Golf & Country Club in Wesley Chapel, you’ll find this new gastropub.
They have plenty of craft beer and handmade cocktails, but what first attracted me was the menu. Check out these photos from their website:
If you want to try it out for yourself, you can find them at 10630 Plantation Bay Drive, Tampa, FL 33647. Find out more at The Green Hop website.

The construction of the massive outlet mall of Cypress Town Center was originally proposed in 2004. But there are wetland to be considered, and environmental litigation held up the construction for many years.
They’ve finally received another permit to build from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and they’re expecting construction to begin as early as next summer. The finished mall should be complete in the summer of 2015.
Stores that are expected to fill the 50 acre, open air shopping center include Saks “Off Fifth” Ave, Banana Republic, Calvin Klein, Coach, J.Crew and Nike. There may also be adjacent hotels, commercial, and mixed-use residential buildings in the future.
The mall will be located near the intersection of S.R. 56 and Interstate 75.
