When you’re shopping for a home, you need to consider not just the basics (like how many bedrooms and bathrooms there are) and the frills (like granite and stainless steel), but you also need to take into account the day-to-day functionality of the home. In other words: how will you live in it? What will make your daily life more comfortable?
For example, does the house you like have enough closet/storage space to keep all your clutter out of sight, which reduces stress?
The 2013 National Association of Realtors Profile of Buyers’ Home Feature Preferences talks about buyer’s remorse. Out of the home buyers who purchased homes without certain features, over half would have paid more for:

When interviewed buyers moved into their new homes, 53% made changes within the first 3 months. Their improvements:
–41% changed lighting
–37% changed appliances
–34% changed landscaping
–32% added hardwood floors.

And, of course, frills are important, too! But it’s a lot easier to add granite counters where there were none, then to add in some more closet space. So it’s up to you to decide what’s most important when buying your house.
